I've had my Masonic tartan kilt for a couple of years now, and enjoy wearing it very much! The fit is perfect, and the lightness of the material work great in our southwest Louisiana climate!

The kilt and sash in Montgomery plaid, arrived from Pakistan with courteous updates and great customer service.
Sadly the odor of chemicals when opened the package made me ill within an hour. Headache and nausea - I was afraid to wash the fabric, and the dry cleaner did not want to take it. It seemed “stiff” with impregnated “something”.
As I am allergic to chemicals, I am trying to get a refund.
Have noted the USA return address on the east coast, also called the number connected to it and actually spoke with a live person - who responded to my email.
My case is being reviewed - but as I cannot give these away or wear them myself, I will be sending them the east coast return address within a week, so that the odor can be experienced first hand.
I am disappointed - and saddened to write this. I note that others have had a similar experience.
If using a chemical is standard to prevent damage to the fabric - i suggest the manufacturer stops this - it is not acceptable and very very unpleasant.
Sincerely and sorry to feel I need to write this review.

QUESTIONS FRÉQUEMMENT POSÉES
What is Lyra Harps?
A Lyra harp is a type of harp inspired by the ancient Greek lyre, known for its distinct design and smaller size. Traditionally, lyra harps have fewer strings than concert harps, offering a range of tones that evoke classical and folk music. Their portable size and elegant, curved frame make them popular among musicians and hobbyists alike. The lyra harp is often used in historical reenactments, early music ensembles, and for personal enjoyment. Its sweet, melodic sound has a unique charm, making it a favorite for anyone interested in ancient music and cultural instruments.
Is lyre harp a good instrument?
The lyre harp is an excellent instrument, especially for beginners and those looking to explore ancient, soothing melodies. Its small size and lightweight design make it highly portable and easy to handle. With a simple learning curve, it's ideal for those new to string instruments, offering a gentle introduction to plucking techniques. The lyre harp's unique, ethereal sound brings a calming and melodic quality to any performance, making it a popular choice for both therapeutic music sessions and traditional folk music. Its historical significance also adds cultural depth to its musical appeal.
Is lyre harp easy to learn?
The lyre harp is considered relatively easy to learn, especially for beginners in music. Its simple design, with fewer strings compared to other stringed instruments, makes it less intimidating for new players. The strings are open, meaning they don’t require pressing down like a guitar or violin. This allows learners to focus on plucking and creating melodies without worrying about finger placement. With basic finger coordination and practice, one can start playing simple tunes quickly. However, like any instrument, mastering the lyre harp requires dedication and consistent practice to develop musicality and skill.
How many strings does a Lyra Harp have?
A lyra harp typically has between 7 and 16 strings, depending on the model and design. Smaller, traditional lyra harps, commonly used in ancient Greece, often feature around 7 to 10 strings. Modern versions, designed for broader musical ranges, can extend up to 16 strings. The number of strings directly influences the instrument's pitch range and versatility, allowing for various tones and melodies. Each string is tuned to a different note, giving the lyra harp its unique sound, ideal for both solo performances and ensemble settings in classical and folk music traditions.
How do I clean and maintain my lyre harp?
To clean and maintain your lyre harp, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth after each use to remove dust and fingerprints. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth, ensuring no moisture seeps into the wood or strings. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they can damage the finish. Keep your harp in a controlled environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity, to prevent warping. Regularly check the strings for tension and replace them if needed. Proper storage in a case when not in use helps protect it from damage and prolong its lifespan.
