Strongly reccomend that you do not buy from this company. They are copying images from other websites and portraying them as their own.

I've had my Masonic tartan kilt for a couple of years now, and enjoy wearing it very much! The fit is perfect, and the lightness of the material work great in our southwest Louisiana climate!

The kilt and sash in Montgomery plaid, arrived from Pakistan with courteous updates and great customer service.
Sadly the odor of chemicals when opened the package made me ill within an hour. Headache and nausea - I was afraid to wash the fabric, and the dry cleaner did not want to take it. It seemed “stiff” with impregnated “something”.
As I am allergic to chemicals, I am trying to get a refund.
Have noted the USA return address on the east coast, also called the number connected to it and actually spoke with a live person - who responded to my email.
My case is being reviewed - but as I cannot give these away or wear them myself, I will be sending them the east coast return address within a week, so that the odor can be experienced first hand.
I am disappointed - and saddened to write this. I note that others have had a similar experience.
If using a chemical is standard to prevent damage to the fabric - i suggest the manufacturer stops this - it is not acceptable and very very unpleasant.
Sincerely and sorry to feel I need to write this review.

QUESTIONS FRÉQUEMMENT POSÉES
What shoes to wear with a kilt?
When wearing a kilt, your footwear should match the formality of the occasion. For traditional or formal events, Ghillie Brogues are the most iconic choice, known for their lace-up design and cultural authenticity. For semi-formal settings, regular brogues or dress shoes in black or brown leather can also work well. If you're going for a casual or utility look, smart boots like Chelsea or even clean leather sneakers can pair with contemporary kilts. The key is to maintain a clean, polished look that complements your kilt’s style and occasion.
What are Ghillie Brogues and how are they different from regular dress shoes?
Ghillie Brogues are traditional Scottish shoes typically worn with kilts and full Highland dress. Unlike regular dress shoes, they feature long laces with no tongue, which wrap around the ankle and are tied above the foot. This unique design originated for practicality—preventing mud accumulation and allowing ventilation during outdoor activities. While regular dress shoes focus on modern formality, Ghillie Brogues blend style with heritage, making them ideal for cultural events, weddings, or parades. They are not just footwear; they’re a key element of traditional Scottish attire and symbol of heritage.
What is the purpose of laces on Ghillie Brogues?
The long laces on Ghillie Brogues are designed to be wrapped around the ankle and tied above the shoe. Historically, this design provided extra security and stability when walking through the rugged terrain of the Scottish Highlands, helping the shoes stay firmly in place. Over time, this functional feature has evolved into a decorative element that complements the traditional Scottish aesthetic. Today, the laces are an integral part of the classic Highland dress, adding a distinctive and elegant touch to formal attire, especially when worn with kilts at events like weddings, ceilidhs, and Highland games.
How to tie ghillie brogues?
To tie Ghillie Brogues, begin by crossing the laces over the top of your foot and pulling them snug. Then, wrap the laces around your ankle once or twice, just above the kilt hose (socks), and tie a bow at the side of your leg—ideally on the outside. The look should be neat but not tight, allowing comfort and mobility. The long laces are not just for style—they were historically functional for securing the shoe in rugged terrain. A well-tied Ghillie Brogue gives your kilt outfit an authentic and distinguished finish.
What materials are Ghillie Brogues made from?
Ghillie Brogues are typically crafted from high-quality leather, chosen for its durability and classic appearance. The upper part of the shoe is usually made from full-grain or calfskin leather, offering both strength and a polished finish. The soles are often made of leather or rubber, providing a sturdy base for formal wear or rugged outdoor environments. Some styles may feature decorative perforations, known as broguing, which add to the shoe’s traditional aesthetic. In addition to leather, the laces are typically made from strong, woven materials, ensuring they can withstand repeated wrapping and tying, enhancing the overall longevity of the footwear.
How do I choose the right size for Ghillie Brogues?
To choose the right size for Ghillie Brogues, it's important to measure your feet accurately. Start by measuring both feet, as they can differ in size, and choose the size that accommodates the larger foot. When selecting Ghillie Brogues, ensure that there is enough room in the toe box to wiggle your toes, while also ensuring a snug fit at the heel for stability. Consider the thickness of the socks or kilt hose you’ll be wearing, as thicker socks may require a slightly larger size. If you're between sizes, it’s often recommended to size up for comfort, as leather can be adjusted slightly with wear.
