In a full bright sett, less so, since the pattern reads as loungewear the moment it covers the whole leg. In a muted or panelled design, comfortably. If you want joggers you will actually wear out, choose a dark sett or a style where the tartan is a side panel rather than the whole garment.

Relaxed through the thigh with an elasticated or drawcord waist and a cuff that sits at the ankle bone. Take your usual size unless you want them oversized. Because there is no fitted seam anywhere, this is one of the few categories where standard sizing is genuinely fine.

Cold wash inside out, tie the drawcord loosely first so it does not pull through the channel, and hang to dry. Tumble drying is what destroys the waistband and cuff elastic, usually within a dozen washes. Avoid fabric softener, which degrades elastic over time.

Cotton rich fabrics shrink slightly on a first hot wash, mostly in length. Wash cold and hang to dry and it is negligible. The bigger risk is heat destroying the cuff and waistband elastic. Pair them with tartan panel hoodies in the same sett.
